Week 3- Where am I???

Where am I ?

My assignment is to "rate myself" and set goals to improve
On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being optimal wellbeing

Physical Wellbeing - I would give myself a 6 . I am so much better than I was five years ago.
I am pleased that I am not on any medications.
However, I am not as active as I was 3 years ago.
I feel my nutrition is on course however my weight is 8 pounds
 heavier than I want.
I regained 15 with stress, school and the move. I am down 7.
I am discovering activities that will become part of my weekly routines!!

GOAL-To raise this 9, I need to walk the walk and actually get my booty moving!! I want to add 30 minutes daily to my routine. I am looking into kayaking and walking!

Spiritual Wellbeing - I am a solid 8. I will be a 10 when I leave this world and am at the feet of my Savior. I am doing much better with letting Him be in charge.
I am enjoy my quiet time but I am usually talking.

GOAL- I want to increase my "listening" time. I need to work on trusting
my inner knowing.
I tend to second guess myself. I also want to increase my positive thoughts and self image. God did not make junk!!!

Psychological Wellbeing- This is the toughest one. Our family is dealing with several health issues for both my husband and son.
I have a positive attitude but live with fear of the unknown.
I have an amazing job that I love. My home is in the perfect place.
My daughters are happy and I am a blessed Grandma.
I am going to give myself a 4.8.

GOAL- I am using all I am gaining in this class with a goal of raising this to a 8!! I want to work on my ability to accept happiness and laugh in the face the challenges we are facing. The issues will remain. The only control we have is how we view it. We need to develop a health relationship with these illnesses!!

  1. Sonya,
First I'm so sorry to hear about your son and husband's health issues. These can be times of extreme confusion and stress because it's all you can think about. I am however, like you blessed to not be on any medications. I hope to keep it that way. Might I highly recommend kayaking?! I've only done it once, I put it off for a long time even though my fiance was an avid kayak-er before I came into his life, I just didn't think I could do it because it requires upper body and arm strength, but I did it and it was amazing. It didn't even get too tiring and I didn't feel too sore afterwards. I actually felt really proud of myself and stronger in the arms. I think this might be something good to help keep your mind off of things for a couple hours as well. Keep up your amazing work!

  2. Sonya,
I am pleased to hear the amount of motivation you have to build a healthier life for not only yourself but your family. It is sometimes hard for individuals to see where they have room to rise. You seem to be very in tune with who you are and where you plan to go. I hope you and your family can gain ground on your husband and son's situation. I know these times can be tough but I am glad to see you have positive outlook.

  3. Sonya,
Sounds like you know yourself pretty well. That in itself should raise some of those grades, but we are always harder on ourselves than others, aren't we? Its easier to get your booty moving with a partner and, with health problems facing your husband (prayers sent on that one) maybe your daughters would like to join you. Exercise releases those endorphins, and that puts you in a better place emotionally, too.

  4. Hello Sonya,
I too need to make some drastic changes and bring my low scores up. So hopefully with the help of this class I can make that happen. I really hope and pray that everything goes good with your husband and son. It can be very difficult when dealing with issues of the unknown but that is where faith comes in and we must focus on the positive outcomes.

  5. Hi Sonya,
Sorry to hear about the health issues your family is experiencing. I’m sure you’ll continue to be an inspiration to them as you keep working on yourself and improving your own health. I am like you in the sense that I’m not as active as I was a few years ago, but I am striving to do better. Stay encouraged and keep the faith!
