While I love my quiet time, prayer time and meditation...
Today was the first day of a meditation designed to change my brain...
I have spent much of the morning getting my post done so that I can enjoy the upcoming holiday. Yet when I got to this assignment, I found myself very intrigued. I have searched several sites. I listened to several meditations. I even did the guided podcast in our class.
It was amazing.
I was guided to let my feeling flow both good and bad.
Next I focused on someone I love, my Bill.
Then I focused on his pain.
Surprizingly, I got a text from him say he missed me.
This is not uncommon but his timing was interesting.
I know God has a sense of humor!!!
As I continued my meditation, I found myself looking for the good with in myself. I felt more positive. As I thought about Bill and the pain he suffers, I begin to pray for his comfort.
In this meditation, I felt at ease with the meditation.
My assignment is to do this daily.
I would highly recommend this type of meditation.
I would highly recommend this type of meditation.
I plan to post a few guided ones here during this week.
Sonya-
ReplyDeleteI loved this week's meditation too. Isn't it amazing how mysterious or connection with our loved ones can be? It's like when you truly need them or wish you could talk to them, something amazing happens like they finally call. I've had this happen before many times where I'm thinking about someone and then they'll show up or call. I wonder what it means?
To be honest Juliette, I think God whispered in their ear and moved in their heart !!!
ReplyDeleteI love the connection!!!
Sonya,
ReplyDeleteWhat a great experience with your meditation. I found at the end of my meditation praying for those that are my so-called enemies that not only the God deliver them from their pain but that he give them what they need. I have been continuing this meditation throughout the week and one of the loved one that I was really focusing on was my Dad who lives in a lot of hip pain I saw him today and he said he was actually feeling pretty good today better than he has in a while. I am going to continue using this meditation.
Hello Melissa,
DeleteWow! I think you’re on to something. Praying for others who we love is one thing, but when we can genuinely love and pray for those who mistreat us and willfully use us is when our hearts have been changed and we can truly expect to experience human flourishing.
Sonya,
ReplyDeleteI learned early, as a teenager, the positive and uplifting benefits of meditation, and this weeks exercise is like an echo of my ministers words on the subject. She has passed from this life, but when I meditate, I feel her still with me, guiding me and encouraging the spiritual growth that is part of our daily lives , there if we acknowledge His grace.
I am now trying to take the time for quiet, reflection, healing, and mental slow down. God is good and knows when the timing is right.
ReplyDeleteHi Sonya,
ReplyDeleteOnce again excellent post! I truly enjoyed reading it. I do love prayer and meditation both and it just seems like when I take the time to focus on someone else and their issues instead of my own it just makes things better for me without even trying. I believe intercessory prayer is like the highest form of prayer. Great work!
I liked this meditation more than the other two. I have some self-hypnosis and meditation exercises that you may find useful for you and Bill, if you are interested. Just let me know if you are interested. Anyways, thanks for such a detailed response. It is nice to see how one thing can have such a variety of responses.
ReplyDeleteI have a few self-hypnosis things I posted, which you might like. However, that is more of something subjective, rather than not. Remember, those who feel better heal better.
